SIX!
My goodness, my firstborn is six years old. How did this happen?
I know everyone says their child is the best, the cutest, the funniest, etc. Max. Max is super cute, super smart and on some days can be super funny. He is my more serious one of the two. My analyst. I would not change one bit about him. Because bottom line, he is simply amazing.
At six, he's all about Minecraft and Legos, and wanting to ride his bike, and stretching his leash from me and boundaries. He's inquisitive and loves to read. We have a small addiction to Minecraft videos on You Tube. (thankfully its a kid-focused channel!)
And he's brave. So brave. He takes scary things and he does them. I dont ever ever want that to change. I love this blond kid more than I can say. Happy Birthday Max!

Spring Break 2016. We took off for Denver, to spend time with Sharon and her family. We hiked and saw all sorts of deer (my spirit animal). We played with the cousins. We ate good food cooked by Sharon and went out for some treats. Aunt Sharon read a favorite book, Ten Minutes till Bedtime.
Then it was the big fun. Tubing. Our first time. Down a real mountain. In the Colorado Rockies. I was a nervous wreck. Max went down with Sharon the first time and then he was good all by himself. Didnt want to ride with Mom. Theo and I stuck together, he was still too small to be by himself. We loved it. Loved the experience. Loved the company. Loved the view.
As we left the Winter Park Resort, I found Theo running a fever. Thankfully we were on our way home to Sharon's house, and the next day on our way home to Chicago.
I came back clear-headed, relaxed. We were never Spring Break-ers growing up, but that is something I definitely want to change for the boys and I. And so we shall ... Life. Its a wonderful thing.
Theo's first bike. He was so over-the-top excited, he couldnt contain himself. Exhausted himself into a nap, with the new helmet. And of course, the paci.
Green bike. Green helmet. He's all set.

Class of 2028.
That is when Max will be graduating from high school. Insert o.m.g. emoji here.
This is his Pre-K graduation ceremony. I was a sobbing mess. I couldnt control myself. Never once did I cry in any of the transitions in school for him. But BOOM!, the water works were on full force this day and event.
I am so proud of him.

Mothers Day 2015.
Plus the Bluebells were in bloom. Just about the prettiest flower.
In just one year, these boys have grown so much. (well more like 15 months, but still they are so different now.)
The only thing that isnt different, our love for being outdoors. Thankfully the boys amuse me and tag along graciously on my desire to be with nature. And that is what we did this year for the afternoon at the Knock Knolls Nature Center + Trail. We love this place.
