One of the things I've been missing quite a bit lately is reading.  A while back my dad suggested books on CD.  I filed that suggestion away, knowing it was a good idea and someday I would do it.  This past Sunday was the day I did it.  At our weekly trip to the library we ventured to the adult section for this mama to get a book....on CD. 

I am totally into this book, The Help.  I've been listening during my commute from/to Grandma's on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I am loving it. 

We even checked out a Thomas book on CD.  They listen to books on CD at school, so its not anything new to Max.  This morning I popped The Cranky Day CD into the player and Max sat quietly in the back seat, listening intently. 

My hesitation of deviating from the traditional book reading (you know where you open a book and turn pages) is starting to ween...just a little bit.  This was a BRILLIANT idea.  Thanks Dad!! 

Making some changes around here.   (As I have been saying for the past few months, if not longer!)  I am expecting by the first of the year this will be a whole new place.  I am excited. 

I have a selection of blogs I read each day.  Today, one of them posted this.  I love it!  Its a great idea!

There has been quite a bit of talk about Twitter and twittering during the State of the Union address.  I signed up for Twitter earlier this year, at the urging of a friend.  Its fun.  You post what you are doing to the website, periodically throughout the day, week, month, however often  you wish.  There are some Twitterers who tweet often and others who dont.  (Tweet is a post.) 

Apparently, according to the news, senators were tweeting non-stop during the address.  Even one senator was called out on it, and she claimed she stopped tweeting right before the address began.  Steven Colbert found that the address started at 9:19p and she tweeted at 9:25p.  I guess you can blame them for doing it, saying it shows disrespect to the president and the government.  I cant help but ask the question, what were they tweeting about?  Was it personal stuff or about the address? 

You can follow people and see their tweets as they are posted.  So if I was following my Illinois senators, and they were tweeting during the address, I'd be reading their input on the address.  If this were the case, I would be alright with the tweets, and the senators taking the time to provide this information to their followers. 

However, tweeting about someone's new haircut, suit that needed to be pressed or their grocery list is unacceptable during the president speaking about the current state of our economy.  Am a bit disappointed in our senators.

You can now find my blog on Delighfulblogs.com.  It's a pretty cool feeling knowing that in the pool of 3200 blogs, I am in there somewhere.  What are the chances someone browsing thru this list and picking mine to read?  Probably minimal and that's okay. 

 

I had to write a point of my blog and why I have it for the submission to be posted.  I had to stop and think about it for a while.  I had started this thing years ago to get nonsense out of my head.  Then I used it to document my travels and now, though I'll still document my travels, I find it to be my life diary.  This captures my everyday life.  This will be kept forever, and someday I can look thru the archives and be reminded of all the little stuff I did to keep myself happy and to make me a better person. 

I hope you find the same inspiration from this as I have. 

My new laptop arrived on Wednesday.  I spent Thurs evening and most of the day Friday setting up the new wireless network, transfering data from old to new and rearranging the 'office' area.  I am pretty pleased with the new laptop, especially the new webcam.  Eleven o'clock Thurs evening I called my mother, as she appeared to be online.  Sure enough she was.  We had a good giggle about the pictures of ourselves in the webcam.

After spending an exhausting 8 hours transfering 500+ songs from my itunes account, 1800 or so pictures and a few other documents, I decided it was time to indulge in a movie and popcorn.  Today's selection, Roman Holiday.  Never seen it before, and it was in the free movies in Ondemand.  Didnt think I was an Audrey Hepburn fan, but she won me over in this film.  And besides, who knew Gregory Peck was so good looking when he was young.  Well, then again, werent they all? 

 

Tomorrow I am heading to Target, Joann Fabrics and IKEA to get the final touches for the bathroom and the office area.  Once everything is in place, I will post before and after pics ... first two official rooms complete in the Great Redesign of '09.
